Abstract

The present study examined the potential of sports as a public health strategy for managing chronic conditions. Chronic diseases, such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and obesity, pose significant challenges to global public health. This paper proposes that incorporating sports into public health strategies could play a pivotal role in preventing, managing, and improving the quality of life for individuals with chronic conditions. The literature review highlights the benefits of physical activity in reducing the risk and severity of chronic conditions, enhancing overall health, and improving mental well-being. The study further explores various sports-based interventions, including community-based programs, workplace initiatives, and school-based activities, and their effectiveness in addressing chronic conditions. Additionally, the paper discusses the potential barriers to implementing sports-based interventions and suggests strategies to overcome these challenges, emphasizing the importance of policy support, stakeholder engagement, and evidence-based practice. The findings indicate that sports offer a promising approach to chronic disease management and could be integrated into public health policies to promote healthier lifestyles.
