The present study investigates the efficacy of sports-based interventions in promoting youth mental health. With the increasing prevalence of mental health issues among adolescents, there is a growing need for effective preventive strategies. This review synthesizes evidence from empirical studies to assess how sports-based programs can contribute to mental well-being. The analysis highlights that participation in sports can serve as a means to enhance cognitive functions, reduce stress, and promote positive social interactions. Findings suggest that these interventions are particularly beneficial for young individuals who face adversity or have a history of mental health challenges. Moreover, the review underscores the importance of tailored approaches that consider individual differences and the specific context in which the sports-based interventions are implemented. Overall, the evidence indicates that sports-based interventions are a viable and promising strategy for supporting youth mental health.
