The burgeoning field of sports tourism has witnessed a significant growth in recent years, attracting both local and international visitors to participate in sports events and activities. This paper examines the multifaceted impact of sports tourism on local public health. It begins with an overview of the key concepts and definitions related to sports tourism and public health, establishing a framework for the subsequent analysis. The subsequent sections delve into the positive and negative health outcomes associated with sports tourism, including physical activity promotion, improvement of local infrastructure, potential health risks, and mental health benefits. The paper further discusses the role of sports tourism in fostering community engagement and economic development, while also highlighting the challenges faced in maintaining sustainable health practices within the sector. By synthesizing existing literature and case studies, this paper concludes that while sports tourism can have a profound positive impact on local public health, careful planning and community involvement are crucial to mitigate potential risks and maximize benefits for all stakeholders.
