Abstract

The title "Sports, Physical Activity, and Aging: Health Benefits and Challenges" encapsulates a comprehensive exploration of the impact of regular physical activity, particularly sports, on the aging population. This paper aims to delve into the multifaceted benefits that sports and physical activities offer to the elderly, while also addressing the unique challenges they may face in maintaining an active lifestyle. The health benefits of sports and physical activity for older adults include improved cardiovascular health, enhanced muscle strength and flexibility, better cognitive function, and a reduced risk of chronic diseases. However, the aging process itself presents physical and cognitive limitations that can impede participation in sports and other forms of physical activity. This abstract examines the evidence-based strategies and interventions that can support older adults in engaging in sports and physical activities, emphasizing the importance of personalized fitness programs and community support. Furthermore, it scrutinizes the socio-economic factors that affect the accessibility and engagement of the elderly in sports and physical activity, highlighting the need for inclusive policies and initiatives.
