Abstract

The present paper explores the intricate relationship between social determinants of health and sports participation. It delves into the multifaceted factors that influence individuals' engagement in physical activities, highlighting the significant role that social, economic, and environmental contexts play. By examining data from various studies and conducting a synthesis of the existing literature, this paper reveals that socio-economic status, education, access to resources, and community support are critical determinants of sports participation rates. The analysis further underscores the impact of health disparities, with marginalized populations facing barriers that hinder their ability to participate in sports. This paper argues that addressing these social determinants is essential for promoting health equity and improving overall well-being. It also suggests strategies for policymakers and community leaders to create inclusive environments that encourage sports participation for all individuals, irrespective of their background.
