This paper explores the critical role of public health surveillance and monitoring in the realm of sports. With the increasing global participation in sports and recreational activities, there has been a concurrent rise in health risks and potential outbreaks. Public health surveillance in sports involves the systematic collection, analysis, and interpretation of health data to detect trends, identify risk factors, and respond to health threats. The aim of this study is to examine the various components of public health surveillance and monitoring in sports, including the identification of key indicators, the use of technology for data collection, and the implementation of evidence-based interventions. It discusses the importance of real-time data analysis for early detection of health issues, the challenges in maintaining data privacy and security, and the role of interagency collaboration in ensuring comprehensive surveillance systems. The paper further highlights the benefits of these surveillance efforts, such as improved athlete performance, reduced injury rates, and enhanced public health outcomes. Finally, it proposes future directions for research and policy development in the field of sports public health surveillance.
